Here is a plugin to export WebM codecs out of Premiere Pro, IDK about elements. In quality terms, VP9 is closer to H.264 than H.265. If youtube used h.265 at the same bitrates, maybe their compression wouldn't look so shitty. Vp9 has been adopted by youtube, and has browser support, however it sucks compared to h.265(HEVC), and again, electronic companies and broadcasters are choosing HEVC over VP9, regardless of google campaigning and more VP9 hardware partnership handshakes than VP8 ever had. Vp8 lost out to h.264 quickly, despite of h.264's licensing baggage.

VP8 was only ever a delivery codec, and poor choice of one at that.

Vp8 & vp9 have never had electronics (production end) support, and post production software deals with production codecs foremost. It's hard to believe because you haven't been following industry trends. Understand that I really like the workflow in PE13 but the time I waste converting files from vp8 to mpeg and then render them in mpeg only to convert them back to vp8 so I can upload the result really wastes a lot of my time as you might imagine.įor those wondering why I have vp8 source files it's because my project makes heavy use of webm files from gfycat. Is it possible to work with VP8 files in PE13? If not what alternative editor would you recommend? Adobe's help site is simply the worst, most of the time I have to search YouTube for answers to common questions like cropping video so understandably I couldn't find an answer. Regardless, I have vp8 files and want to export vp8 files, PE13 won't do it. Or is it just Adobe playing dirty and wanting to cling to the flash player for as long as possible? I find it rather hard to believe that a paid product doesn't support a free and popular codec like vp8 (or vp9) giving it's growing prominence in internet video.
